Technical and Adm Inspection

Annual Technical and Adm. Inspection of the school was carried out on 6th and 7th Sept’07 by Brig. C. V. Raveendran, Cdr 90 Inf. Bde. Lt. Col. Sidha Gopal (SOI C Edn, HQ 9 Corps) and Mrs Aarti Patel, Principal, Army School, Kandrori. They inspected the morning assembly, teaching methods followed by the teachers in the classrooms and various faculties of the school. They also interacted with the staff members over a cup of tea.

Educational Trip

The students of XII Arts had gone on a “Land Use Survey” to Falaundi village, located in the interiors of Kangra District, on 29th Nov 2007. The aim of this visit was to collect primary data on the types of land uses and also to know about the different types of crops grown, methods of farming and irrigation, manures and fertilizers used and the problems faced by the farmers.

Open House

In the present system of education the pupil-teacher-parent interaction has been given great importance to help in the child’s all round development. PTA meets are therefore organized regularly, specially after every exam and monthly tests to give feedback to the parents regarding their wards.

Follow-up Classes

“Remedial classes” were being held regularly to help the weak students to improve their academic performance. Special coaching classes were also conducted during vacations for the students of class X, XI and XII, wherein parents were apprised of the progress of their wards.

Circulation of ‘The Tribune’

‘The Tribune’ has come out with a special scheme for students to subscribe to the newspaper at nominal rates. Our students have enthusiastically come forward in large numbers to subscribe to the newspaper and were benefited.

Sports and Games

The overall personality of a child is judged not only by his intelligence but also by his physique, so to allow him show his prowess on the field, 14th Nov ’07, the Children’s Day, was celebrated as the Annual Athletic Day. Teresa House was declared as the Champion House.

Extra curricular activities

With the changing times the students are being trained to discover their latent talents. Art and Craft is encouraged and the students with a flair for writing are encouraged to pen their thoughts. Various competitions are organized regularly to develop their spirit of competition.

NCC (National Cadet Corps)

Army School, Yol Cantt introduced NCC in 2003-2004, under 5 H P (I) NCC COY to inculcate the qualities of leadership, courage, discipline and selfless service amongst students.

Farewell to Class XII

30 Nov 2007 was a day filled with myriad of emotions; the occasion was the farewell of the students of class XII. The show began with a host of games and melodious songs. Music and mimicry provided a good dose of entertainment to the audience. Miss Isha Sharma and Master Mihul were adjudged as Miss and Master Farewell. The Principal, Mr AK Ambastha, conveyed his best wishes on behalf of the staff and students, blessed all the students and presented momentos to them as a token of remembrance.

Faculty Enrichment Programme

The staff of the school has never missed any opportunity to upgrade themselves professionally. They attended workshops organized by AWES at various Army Schools / Army Public Schools. A special workshop on “Good Parenting” was organized at Army School Yol Cantt from 21 Nov’08 to 23 Nov’08 for the students and parents of classes X to XII.

Computer Education and Information Technology

Since the Computer rules the world today, our children are introduced to computers right from the Primary level. The school has a well equipped IT laboratory with 30 computers for classes X to XII, 21 computers for classes III to IX and 6 computers for classes I & II, all connected on LAN. An Internet facility through Broadband connection is provided to both the computer labs.

V-SAT

Facility of V- SAT is established in the school where the students of classes IX to XII are taught through virtual classes. This is an achievement, which very few schools can boast of.

CAL (Computer Aided Learning)

The school has implemented classroom teaching through CAL for classes IX to XII. LCD projector, screen and a computer are installed in classes IX to XII.

Audio- Visual Aids

Giving young students a better perception of invention and innovation is a major responsibility of schools and our school is certainly at the forefront of this revolution. The computer faculty through audio-visual aids focuses on how to provide a creative environment with the potential to stimulate the young minds. The teachers play a pivotal role in organizing slide shows and laboratory demonstrations, which are an innovative way to teach the students. The IT arena is exhilarating with easy accessibility to computers and the Internet. With such opportunities available, we are constantly trying to tap the vast world of Science and Information Technology.
